The commitment

Today is a day to celebrate. My bestie and her soulmate tied the knot :) Yeay! so happy that I just didn't want to miss witnessing and celebrating it together with the love birds, friends and their families. Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Mak! =D May you live happily ever after. Tadaaa...familiar words from fairytales but it is my utmost sincere blessings. Am looking forward to the reception :)

Anyway, what I'd like to share tonight is the registration itself. To my surprise, it took less than 10 minutes. Seriously. What I heard was the few questions and the answers - Yes, No, I do, I do, sign, exchange of ring and you get your papers. Oh she missed the kissing part but right, that's illegal here I think. Oh and that's it! Just that?! Yes, just that. For skeptics, it is just a paper and legally bonded to the government because without it although you consider yourself man and wife, there's so many limitations & restrictions. For a moment, it really seemed unbelievable and looks like a warranty paper if one leaves the other either physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually.

Nevertheless, it signifies eternal love & commitment because it can only happen once
(at least, in my context).

Note: Oh by the way, not anytime soon. Don't think too much :)

Me & My Irresponsible dream

I dream to travel around the world, to leave everyone behind, to see whats on every part of the world and to find the best place to reside. To live in a cottage with lush green sceneries, to live simply with a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows every night.
How carefree. How naive.

When reality strikes, it is just a dream. An irresponsible dream.
Such dreams comes in handy when I'm all worked up. To be stuck in my own world for a moment makes me come back easily and move on.

But then again, keep in mind we always have our loved ones around us. No matter how difficult life could be, I'm sure we'll pull through.
When there's a will, there's a way.
Don't give up.

To dream is to hope

Yes, I've finally taken my step to revive my blog. So to expect more posts coming up slowly.
Stumble upon this note, and I think it is just right for every one of us. Take time off tonight to dream. It's always good to dream. Gives me inspiration & strength to move forward.

I'm grateful for what I have today, but I'm not contented just yet.
Happy Thanksgiving! =D

Billion-haire now

I guess we've all had our billionaire dreams once in awhile till today. Questions like "What am I gonna do if I have a billion dollars? How am I to spend it, so on and so forth.." would appear in our minds.. 'I wanna be a billionaire, so freaking bad...buy all of the things I never had...' sounds so familiar yea..

I've heard of so many dreams - from ships to private jets to living in the sky and planting huge expensive trees, all the way till owning the moon. The sky's the limit.hehe. We've always wondered, well at least, I've always wondered how these wealthy people spend their money. I really don't know. Maybe, maybe, one day when I'm there, I'll know. ;)

As for me, besides having a comfortable life, I would love to help the poor and the orphans/old folks. Not by donations but providing these poor kids with good education. On top of that, to provide better shelter for families who are still living in shacks..and their children will be able to grow up in a proper environment. For the orphans/old folks, there's so much we could do including showering them with love and care. With billions and billions of dollars, I'm sure they can have proper meals (Not hinting that the homes are abusing the orphans/old folks, its just part of my dreams). =)

*Spread the love*

No more 'agendas', please.

Last semester was very much unexpected with all kinds of Agendas.

The term kicked off very badly, with myself being lost in my own world most of the time and barely paying attention to my lecturers. Oh, I still looked at them when they were teaching while my mind wandered elsewhere. =P Sorry teachers, I can’t help it. However, it ended pretty well when I least expected it.

…Probably I did the right thing. =) Thank God.

Anyway, the most exciting part would be the economics project – business for 2 days. My group sold Lok Lok and we managed to make some profit out of it too since no one else was selling it. Having to see people eat and eat and eat and eat…while money flows in. hehehe. It was a good experience. I bet everyone had a good time, though it was very hot. Well, I think I spent quite a lot in the stall next to mine too. They were selling some Sarawak dessert. Ish ish ish, lucky you people!!

What a name for a company to sell lok lok

Second best would of course be the Robot project. It was one of the projects that every other guy would want to take charge of – hold on to the robot and play with it. Yes, it was a success and an experience for those who are not Robocon members. We had a competition at the end of the day, it was quite exciting and funny, seeing all kinds of shapes of robot arms on the go. Well, I realized I'm not very into it after all, I'm just not good in programming but its a learning process. Even the exam question was about this robot! No chance of escaping it. haha.

Robot by Cytron technologies

Modified into Bumblebee!

As usual there were assignments and project datelines to rush for…Which we definitely, managed to hand in, in time. When there’s a will, there’s a way. Be optimistic!

Alright, enough of all the crap.

I’m excited actually. Looking forward to the following semester, not because of the new library… but because I’m A FINAL YEAR STUDENT, finally!! And the fact that I’m one step closer to my goal Hahaha. There’s just 2 more term to endure, I hope everything goes well , nothing bad pops up and please people, pray for me! =) Bless me!

Financial woes

Just yesterday, I took some time off for myself to reflect what I've been doing lately. To be honest, it wasn't the usual me. After 2 Saturdays of partying, yea no doubt it was fun, but I couldn't get away from my troubles so easily. Unfortunately, I still have to face the reality. Yesterday was D day. I sat on the concrete outside my room, plugged in my MP3 player and just relax. Feel the breeze and stare at the sky. For that period of time, I was totally in my own world. Believe it or not, I sat there watching the clear sky turned into orangy horizon till it became all dark.

Images from past went through my mind, one by one. It appeared like mini TV screens and all those were quite recent ones, probably dated back till december 2009. I paused at one of the image - two weeks ago at my hairdresser's. Reflected, and the topic was about financial woes in a relationship.

She shared her experience with us which I assume its about 20 years back. She said all was good with her husband, lovey dovey and all sorts until she gave birth to her first child. Problem begins, they argued everyday. The cause of it? Money - milk powder, diapers and the like.

Its common, but at the same time, it struck me.

Its something which shouldn't happen. You didn't sign the papers to argue over financial status. You didn't sign the papers to argue everyday over small matters. Instead, it should be worked out properly by the couple way before the kid is born.

Financial woes, if not properly managed, is definitely a problem between couples, whether its new or established. As a result of the current financial crisis, couples are finding themselves between a rock and a hard place in countless instances. Many are also finding themselves with the added stress of unhappy relationship. Their financial woes push them toward separation, however, their financial difficulties prevent them, in their mind from calling it quits.

This is what American couples are facing - relationships fall out due to the increasing financial difficulties. (as of 2008)

Here are some tips which can help stop fighting over finance and enjoy a more rewarding and stress-free relationship (provided by associated content):-

  • Understand that money is not the only issue. Financial fracases usually involve more complex and deeper issues than money. Security, control, and power are all underlying themes when it comes to fights over finances. When money is tight, security is a very real issue, and can lead to irritations and complaints. Control and power are closely related. Ideas of who should make the decisions, or one partner constantly making purchases without consulting with the other lead to struggles over control and turn money into the currency of familial power.
  • Talk about financial issues. Just as any other aspect of a relationship requires communication, money matters need talking about. It is important to air your fears and hopes, as well as articulate your strengths and weaknesses with money. You should also listen to your partner and try to understand where he or she is coming from. Talk about the underlying issues that increase your financial struggles, and try to figure out, together, how to overcome these struggles. These communications should be calm in nature, and you should do as much listening as talking.
  • Create some rules. Rules establish order and often provide comfort, whether we like to admit it or not. When you set rules for spending, however, you should understand that each party will have to give in some, and that compromise is necessary.
  • Set common goals. Just having rules is not enough. You can increase your financial harmony by working toward common money dreams. Working together to reach goals can help you to feel more connected, and more like partners. The goals should be short term, medium term, and long term. Short-term goals like saving a little each month for a movie night or dining out give immediate rewards and are encouraging. Medium-range goals like saving up for family vacation, a new car, or a home down payment keep you focused on a reward and brings you together with mutual sacrifice. Long-term goals include things like retirement savings and making plans for when the kids are out of the house. This provides something for you to look forward to as a couple as long as you are together. **Applies to established relationship.
Couples, on the whole, shouldn't feel tied to their relationship because of their financial circumstances. Their emotional wellbeing doesn't have to plummet in line with the stock market. Well, I hope this little tip here helps whoever who's going through these problems. Good luck!

ps: I wonder what happens to leading a simple life...Wonder if its erased from your dictionary ;)

A cowardly act

I received a text from a friend yesterday and it goes something like this:-
"Suan...I'm kinda messed up currently, almost hook up with a girl.. but when she's ready, I feel like I'm not good enough for her. Am I very bad?"
Reading it blew my top and I chided him immediately. Due to current emotional status, its a real bad time to tell me things like this - I'll just spank the person if I could. First of all, yes, its very bad and cruel.

Okay, so this is just another typical scenario thats happening everywhere. Well, it all started off with a guy liking a girl but afraid that she doesn't fancy him the same way. To speed up a little, courtship begins and after awhile the girl fell right through it. While she's waiting for the guy to pop the question, the guy suddenly backs off. SOME guys just enjoy doing this, while SOME probably are afraid of committing in a relationship. Yes, I used the word SOME simply because I know not all guys are the same, and there's no need for me to humiliate the male population.

Sheer nonsense!!

It is not up to you to say/judge whether you are good enough for her or deserve her instead it is a decision by both souls. Maybe you're trying to be macho, wants to make the best decision but mind you, its just a cowardly act. Plus, you'll leave her in misery. Now, tell me how gentleman would it be to create such knotty situation?

**As a matter of fact, I know there are girls who leave guys in misery just like the above situation, but just so you know I don't want to mention it in there because it'll spoil part of my purpose..to promote NeYo's album here as well. hehe.

Listen to
Year of the gentleman

Be a gentleman and do respect women :)

Just another random post.

Firstly, .. HAPPY BIRTHDAY S.H.Y!!!!

Taken @ 2007 birthday celebration

I know we can't celebrate together this year so I'll just wish all October babies a Happy Birthday.. There's just so many people - Peay, ZiLing, Shu Yi, Ernest, Sher How, Aunty Miler, Mr. Ngooi, Shur Hueih, Joo Ling and some others..

From left: Ernest, Aun

There's just so many things in a week that I want to tell, which I can't finish telling and..So, here goes...

It's just going to be another Hectic October : Like usual, more tests and tests on Sundays, datelines to meet and so forth.. Oh its going to be so crazy. Well, it is also a funny thing, this is the time where you will see E&E people walking around like Zombies, running here and there from lab to lab, completing their circuits and cursing the lab equipments for not working properly. Oh I heard there's a Uni open house on the 19th. People, just drop by at HEP to get your coupons, if you're interested. (The important dates: 4, 6, 11, 16, 19 and another one pending)

Well, I think everyone must know about the Earthquake that happened in Sumatera yesterday. Its scary and quite serious since we could feel the effect here too, but all, I missed the one experience. I hear them say, everything in the room were shaking, people wrapped in towels heading downstairs and so forth...I'm just wondering, if you were to run, what is the most important thing you'll bring along?

Another heart-wrenching story - Just got to know, a friend's diagnosed with heart attack recently. The heart's dying, a-b-normal heartbeat and so forth.. I guess all I can say is its destined since he is just my age, no smoking, no drinking and an athletic person. But stay strong, we'll pray hard for you too. Hope to see you during the finals. =)

Its Mid-Autumn festival this Saturday. Initially thought of going home and celebrate, but I'm having test on Sunday morning. Anyhow, we'll be having a simple celebration tonight - just a get together. Remember those times when Grandpa was around he would buy lanterns and he ring us up and ask us to choose the tanglungs ourselves, on first come first served basis. Its a yearly affair, and when he's gone, so does that. We just miss you so much.

Diwali is on the 17th October..Like usual, its a family thing and we'll all be in PD..Not sure if I can join this time, I have test on the 19th and projects to finish up. Hopefully, everything can be done in this coming 2 weeks.I don't want to miss the fun. *fingers crossed*

Oh guess what, I did something good..hehe. I was peacemaker for 2 lovebirds last week,I was told. Its totally accidental. Anyway, glad you people are talking again. =)

Finally, myself. I realized something this week(well, its last week actually), that I'll never learn to adapt well here. Not that I did not try, it just don't work. I find myself hopeless in fact, with so many support from loved ones, I still can't do it. Sorry to let you all down. Don't say its like that, or its normal, I know it myself, its not meant to be like that. Every time after a school break, I'll have a hard time - it'll last at least a week. Few days before the break ends, I'll start worrying, I don't sleep well, and the latest being - waking up early in the morning feeling scared/heavy/ or whatever it is. It just strikes my mind naturally. I guess I'm developing a fear. Its a psychology game and probably a test of perseverance. However tough it is, I'll finish this up, I'll pull through and hopefully I'll come out as a tougher person.

Its just part and parcel of our Life.
