Blame it on the work stress

When it comes to planning, I think one of the best professionals will be an actuary. They give you the best premium rates, risks and bla bla bla.. But when it comes to life planning, probably a lil' too dreamy. hahaha.. Before this, Zi came up with a 5 year plan for Shu Yi - getting a girlfriend to marriage. Today, unexpectedly, she gave me a 2 year plan instead =.=" haha Zi's hinting something, girls! hahaha Sorry Zi! =P Just joking.

We were talking about my internship choices and she was asking me questions after questions before resorting to this (below).

天真的朋友 ;)

Yikes, I wonder what did EY do to my friend, that she's dreaming on broad day light. Blame it on the work stress.. hehe. Oie kerja la, chatting! =) I liked your idea though, wait till I become the boss! =P

My breakie and lunch today cost me rm4.80 I think, just for the McD coffee and I had a whole lot of filling stuff to eat. But the coffee made me so dizzy. yikes. Well, Joo knew I wouldn't even wake up at 8am just to have breakfast, especially on a Wednesday morning. The day that I embrace the opportunity to have my beauty sleep. So, she packed for me instead. yeay!! Thanx Joo!

stuck with TOPSIS & McD breakie

Because I've been stuffing myself with food this week [blame it on the work stress..hehe], I'll have a 3-5 days detox plan after my test on Friday. I definitely need that!

ps: There's always a solution to everything. With positive thoughts, the day will be better. =)

A chapter in life

Hanging out in MBS and Petaling Street today brought on some nostalgic moments. Although it was just about a year and a half in the school, so many memories were created. Walking in the school, I can just visualize the days when were studying there. Hmmm...Miss all of you people!! It is a hub where my network of friends expanded so much and also the place where I met the love of my life =). We’ve grown, so much, and like us, the school is still undergoing some tremendous change. They tore down YC, took up space of the field and those huge, old shady trees were no longer there, to build a multi-purpose hall.

One of the most memorable parts of the school among the boys will be the stories about their high school days – where they bully their teachers, making fun of each other and all sorts of silly acts. It has always been a topic and no matter how many times it’s been told, until today, everyone burst into laughter.

I spent some time browsing through pictures, folders after folders and I just giggled to myself. The pictures and us at present, are so different. hahahaha.

Making it happen!

I admire Chung Seng's courageous move to go on a vacation by himself without even worrying about anything else. All he did was, wake up one morning, headed to KL Sentral to get his tickets to Hatyai. Oh by the way, he didn't even know where to go in Hatyai! Later, he decided to head to Koh Lipe, and you can get to know more about it here! Its awesome! I've always dream of going on such a random journey, but haven't got the opportunity to do so. I'll being living my dream, somehow. Very soon! =)

Speaking about CS's adventure, reminds me of Aunty Winnie's journey to England in her yesteryears. One birthday, she received a ticket to go on board a ship, and her destination was England. It was a challenge in fact, by her colleagues - they chipped in for the ticket. She took on the challenge, board the ship without much possessions and went off just like that. Her voyage to England has earned her so much experience which includes settling down with a beautiful family.

In the recent years, she came back and we had family gatherings. That was the first time, we kids, were introduced to this brave aunt of ours. It is fascinating, she chose the path less taken and it turned out to be a wonderful journey.

ps: life could be colorful, its up to us. =)

Supper @ La Bodega

If you haven't seen Aravindh for a long time and wondering if he is enjoying in the kitchen, I would say, he is pretty successful and most importantly he loves his job.

A pint of Hoegarden with the tiny illy expresso

Went to La Bodega last week and managed to indulge our taste buds in his Alfredo Linguini [no pictures taken]. It was delicious especially when we have extra ham in it and extra fries in our French fries basket.. All thanx to Aravindh. =) Chee Wan loved the pasta so much while Jeffrey wants to learn it.hahaha..I'm not a big fan of pasta due to the excessive cheese in it, but that was fine. The amount of cheese was just right. Oh before I forget, its La Bodega Pavilion.

Ps: Anyway, I managed to escape Hoegarden that night. =)

A Garden View Deluxe

The title sounds nice, not the content.

All my 3 years, I've never faced any problems with my roomies. I dare say it was heaven living with Joo, Tai, Ye-Ne and Rachel. At least we all have the basic manners - switching off the main lights when others are sleeping, keeping our voices down, putting our phones into silent mode etc etc.. Hence, we lived very peacefully.

Little would I expect to meet a whole new bunch of roomies on a crucial semester and really, they're hmm...inconsiderate. It is a total opposite. Maybe because they're younger? Thats a lame excuse, I tell you. The beginning of the semester is the best time to have great sleep, I usually hit the bed by midnight but haha I guess not this time. Two weeks into the semester and I've never slept well yet. Luckily I have quite a flexible timetable, I could slee.p more in the day but thats just not my best way out.

xxx

Plus, the horrifying room location. The presence of slimy creatures off and on - outside, in the toilet..its freaking me out. Having impolite services from the hostel officers..I just hate them. Being sarcastic when you're just a hostel staff.. Hey, you people should think twice.

Ps: I think I'll fail my not-going-back-every-other-weekend plan. I'm depressed.

No more 'agendas', please.

Last semester was very much unexpected with all kinds of Agendas.

The term kicked off very badly, with myself being lost in my own world most of the time and barely paying attention to my lecturers. Oh, I still looked at them when they were teaching while my mind wandered elsewhere. =P Sorry teachers, I can’t help it. However, it ended pretty well when I least expected it.

…Probably I did the right thing. =) Thank God.

Anyway, the most exciting part would be the economics project – business for 2 days. My group sold Lok Lok and we managed to make some profit out of it too since no one else was selling it. Having to see people eat and eat and eat and eat…while money flows in. hehehe. It was a good experience. I bet everyone had a good time, though it was very hot. Well, I think I spent quite a lot in the stall next to mine too. They were selling some Sarawak dessert. Ish ish ish, lucky you people!!

Street Steamboat menu

What a name for a company to sell lok lok

Second best would of course be the Robot project. It was one of the projects that every other guy would want to take charge of – hold on to the robot and play with it. Yes, it was a success and an experience for those who are not Robocon members. We had a competition at the end of the day, it was quite exciting and funny, seeing all kinds of shapes of robot arms on the go. Well, I realized I'm not very into it after all, I'm just not good in programming but its a learning process. Even the exam question was about this robot! No chance of escaping it. haha.

Robot by Cytron technologies

Modified into Bumblebee!

As usual there were assignments and project datelines to rush for…Which we definitely, managed to hand in, in time. When there’s a will, there’s a way. Be optimistic!

Alright, enough of all the crap.

I’m excited actually. Looking forward to the following semester, not because of the new library… but because I’m A FINAL YEAR STUDENT, finally!! And the fact that I’m one step closer to my goal Hahaha. There’s just 2 more term to endure, I hope everything goes well , nothing bad pops up and please people, pray for me! =) Bless me!

Home

I cannot stay put in this place for more than 3 weeks, I'll miss home terribly and thats what I'm feeling the whole week. I know why Cyn wants to go home some much. I feel you today. No worries, you'll be home soon for good.

**How I wish the April fool prank I played wasn't a prank and I really could drop by there.

O' Hail Redang.

I'm kinda bored now, just killing my time..so this is a lil' random but it'll trigger some memories to some of you. hehe.

Shu yi was telling me bout his sunburn marks after his site visit. He was complaining the pain and all while I was laughing at him.. Then I showed him a sunburn picture....yea back to Redang trip where Ernest and Yip Seng had quite terrible sunburn. I wonder why we didn't take the picture of both of them, or, its missing somewhere. Anyway, so this is it...

almost ripe tomato..haha

Yip seng says get more suntan..!! hahaha.. Sorry Yip Seng. I suddenly thought of this. Its just, you're so funny, always coming up with amusing words. No offence! =)

I came across this picture yesterday while I was searching for more sunburn pictures. I like this one here, one of the best picture we took during that trip. Everyone looked so good and it was a great trip after all. I haven't seen some of them for ages though..

Nice...

Oh and this interesting picture here, is Jaseline's t-shirt.

Where are you, Jaseline?haha

It's been a long time since I've seen some of them but we still keep in touch. For Jaseline, she's totally MIA-ed...I haven't heard about her, hmm I guess probably she's busy with her law stuff and clubbing maybe? =P

Drifted away

The awful drink

Today is FT day and the last time I got to enjoy this holiday was 3 years back. I remembered very well that I spent half a day in Telecom museum browsing through whatever they have in the archive. Pretty interesting. If you have the time, probably just drop by yeah. Looking at the development of our communication system from time to time could interest you a little.

So, January was a roller coaster ride for me.

It seems that the new year kicked start unexpectedly terrible but I'm glad at the same time. I know, I know its very contradicting and hey guess what, I have not decided on my resolutions yet. Maybe I still want to continue enjoying the bits and pieces of 2009. How sad.

I admit I got so drifted away during the January weekends and I also stirred up some anger and discomfort in my loved ones...Guess they were so worried. The guilt has been with me though and all the while I've been trying a little too hard to keep my mind from being too preoccupied, but of course, to no avail.

Well, I'm glad January's gone and things have eased a little, I think.

I'll remember the days because I wouldn't want to go through it again and there's no one to blame.

Apologies to the people I love and who loves me.

Mourn for the Ruler

Am I being conservative, open-minded, modernized, weird or ms. nice citizen[just kidding]?

I think mourning for the ruler isn't a big deal, to me its a form of respect. Well, I don't go all out and put on the black band, but I wear dark-coloured clothes and like Darurat has it in yesteryears, I don't walk out of the university grounds during mourning hours. Just in case. :)

Mourning for the Sultan of Johor who has just passed away last week has been an issue. In fact, its the hottest issue in the university this week. On Monday morning, the university came out with a memo urging all staff and students to mourn for the ruler of the state. On Tuesday morning, they enforced the rule and the guards were checking thoroughly - car after car that passed through the gate. They gave warnings to those who did not abide by the rule.

Some people argued with the guards because according to the newspapers, it is NOT compulsory to mourn and there will not be any fines or summons. Obviously, its no use complaining to the guards because they just carry out their duties upon receiving orders.

I don't get the flow. Seriously, I don't. I don't get why is it a fuss among the Chinese community. Its just a black band, it has got nothing to do with religion, you're not really mourning, its just a form of respect to the dead and I guess there's no pantang larangs. Or am I missing something here?

Although we're not Johorians, we should probably just follow the rule because we've been living here for 3 years, though not wholly but since we're here, might as well abide by the rules[which I usually don't] to avoid getting into trouble yourself. Anyway, there's only 3 more days to go.. Why do you want to make a fuss with the dead person?

Another alternative, don't leave/enter the university grounds from 7am to 7pm. You'll be safer that way. hahaha..Or to save your butts, just wear it when you pass through the gate and take it off after that.

The best part is, all these complains are coming from Johorians themselves and people who comes from states which have Sultan. ;)

I'm not an item.

I realized I'm just a thing to some people.

I'm not an icon, which you can use for the econs project;
I'm not here for you to create some stories and laugh about;
I'm not here for you to spread rumours;

and

I'm not a thing you can come to and go whenever you favour.

I don't voice out, doesn't mean I don't mind, doesn't mean I'm not hurt.

Respect me, guys.

Just for Laughs

Played Pictionary for the first time, and boy was it funnnnny especially when Chung Seng fell with a loud thud but it wasn't anything about injured/broken arm..It was just to show fragile =.=". All the effort while Quen Seng sat there laughing and couldn't guess it right.hahaha..

Pictionary shows how good are we at drawing..Obviously, I failed my art..

Oja's creation : Dog...
Quen Seng says its a Crocodile

My creation : Rabbit Ears..
Oja says those are Wings

Top right corner :: Quen Seng drew a smiley YELLING!!
My creation: Giraffe..
Oja: Dinosaur..

There were more but I can only show these few
...Horrible drawings... =P

Merry Christmas everybody!!!!

Oh well well...Here goes, one of the best times of the year and we'll be stepping into 2010 very soon. Though this recent years I don't really celebrate it, I'll still have some fun. Since its a time of sharing and giving, lets just loosen up and celebrate it with your loved ones. Be glad that we are able to celebrate it. =)

To be honest, there aren't much Christmas feel in the city these days, I really don't understand why. Despite all the lovely decorations, it just don't feel the same. Maybe its too commercialized. However, what I've seen in KK was a whole lot different - real meaning of Christmas, though their decorations aren't as fancy as what we see here, but the way they acknowledged it,....pretty impressive. You'll know what I mean, if you observe the locals..Well, I can't put into words, its difficult to explain..Lazy~~ hehe.

I came across something cute and lovely when I was in Mid Valley 2 weeks ago..Oh my, its a very good gift indeed for a friend, cousin, niece, kids and girlfriend. Yes, it applies more to girls. Sorry guys. =) It's a snowcat by Nici - German Toys. I got pretty excited with this wonderful toy because its just so soft[you can hardly find one like that these days] which makes you feel so comfy when you hug it and oh, you can take off the snow hood too. So cute =P. Its a lil' small though and the price is a lil' on the high side. Just feel like grabbing it at that time. hehe.

Snowcat, by Nici Germany.

Finally, whats Christmas without some jingles. N'sync's Christmas album still remains as my favourite especially Merry Christmas, Happy holidays; Home for Christmas and The Christmas song. Listen to some to hype it up.

Well, Merry Christmas and a Happy New year everyone..

May you have a lovely one. =)

Its a lovestory, baby just say...yes..

Exactly a month from my previous post und es ist schon schlimm. Haven't been doing a good job after all. I haven't get over it enough and the thoughts still haunts from time to time. Although I feel terrible upon hearing anything about it at all, at least I know and I won't feel left out. I'm still trying.

------------

Great news..!! Our friend Jian Xin got engaged recently and will be getting married next year I think.. Well, its good to hear and everyone's happy for him. Looking at the pictures of the proposal, I figured it must have been a really good and a romantic one. haha.. Seems like he's got a lot of ideas there. Congratulations!! =) *cheeRs*

Just another random post.

Firstly, .. HAPPY BIRTHDAY S.H.Y!!!!

Taken @ 2007 birthday celebration

I know we can't celebrate together this year so I'll just wish all October babies a Happy Birthday.. There's just so many people - Peay, ZiLing, Shu Yi, Ernest, Sher How, Aunty Miler, Mr. Ngooi, Shur Hueih, Joo Ling and some others..

From left: Ernest, Aun

There's just so many things in a week that I want to tell, which I can't finish telling and..So, here goes...

It's just going to be another Hectic October : Like usual, more tests and tests on Sundays, datelines to meet and so forth.. Oh its going to be so crazy. Well, it is also a funny thing, this is the time where you will see E&E people walking around like Zombies, running here and there from lab to lab, completing their circuits and cursing the lab equipments for not working properly. Oh I heard there's a Uni open house on the 19th. People, just drop by at HEP to get your coupons, if you're interested. (The important dates: 4, 6, 11, 16, 19 and another one pending)

Well, I think everyone must know about the Earthquake that happened in Sumatera yesterday. Its scary and quite serious since we could feel the effect here too, but all, I missed the one experience. I hear them say, everything in the room were shaking, people wrapped in towels heading downstairs and so forth...I'm just wondering, if you were to run, what is the most important thing you'll bring along?

Another heart-wrenching story - Just got to know, a friend's diagnosed with heart attack recently. The heart's dying, a-b-normal heartbeat and so forth.. I guess all I can say is its destined since he is just my age, no smoking, no drinking and an athletic person. But stay strong, we'll pray hard for you too. Hope to see you during the finals. =)

Its Mid-Autumn festival this Saturday. Initially thought of going home and celebrate, but I'm having test on Sunday morning. Anyhow, we'll be having a simple celebration tonight - just a get together. Remember those times when Grandpa was around he would buy lanterns and he ring us up and ask us to choose the tanglungs ourselves, on first come first served basis. Its a yearly affair, and when he's gone, so does that. We just miss you so much.

Diwali is on the 17th October..Like usual, its a family thing and we'll all be in PD..Not sure if I can join this time, I have test on the 19th and projects to finish up. Hopefully, everything can be done in this coming 2 weeks.I don't want to miss the fun. *fingers crossed*

Oh guess what, I did something good..hehe. I was peacemaker for 2 lovebirds last week,I was told. Its totally accidental. Anyway, glad you people are talking again. =)

Finally, myself. I realized something this week(well, its last week actually), that I'll never learn to adapt well here. Not that I did not try, it just don't work. I find myself hopeless in fact, with so many support from loved ones, I still can't do it. Sorry to let you all down. Don't say its like that, or its normal, I know it myself, its not meant to be like that. Every time after a school break, I'll have a hard time - it'll last at least a week. Few days before the break ends, I'll start worrying, I don't sleep well, and the latest being - waking up early in the morning feeling scared/heavy/ or whatever it is. It just strikes my mind naturally. I guess I'm developing a fear. Its a psychology game and probably a test of perseverance. However tough it is, I'll finish this up, I'll pull through and hopefully I'll come out as a tougher person.

Its just part and parcel of our Life.

UTM Low-Speed Wind Tunnel

I've always admire the aeronautics sector and even more when I watched the making of Airbus A380 on NAt Geo. Pretty amazing, I must say. When people say about aeronautics, the first thing that come into our minds are planes and planes and more planes. Alright, today, open up your mind people, as aeronautics involves more than just aeroplanes flying above us all. It covers a vast application including our cars, bridges, buildings and even the lamp post by the roadside.

So, this post is actually a little about aeronautics and one of its equipment which is the wind tunnel.

I went to UTM yesterday to visit its wind tunnel and I must say, I wasn't let down and it was way better than what I had expected. To be honest, I was both excited and interested to find out about this low-speed wind tunnel with a maximum wind speed of 80m/s.

Its the first in Malaysia, designed in Canada, assembled here and located in UTM's aerolab. One of its pioneer, Prof. Ir. Dr. Shuhaimi told us that they took one year to design and another year to build the wind tunnel. This huge thing costs RM20million and they need about RM200K for maintenance every year. Interesting, and a huge lum sum needed.

Being one of the first, UTM renders services to companies such as Proton, lamp posts companies, and the latest being F1 I think, to do their research and come out with the best product/solution. A few Proton models such as Waja, Persona, Savvy and Exora were being sent there for some research but normally, the test done on these vehicles is just a quarter of it due to its small test section. Now the cost - standard price, RM6000 per day(working hours).

Well, that's a little introduction about the wind tunnel and now the pictures...

Thats Prof. Ir. Dr. Shuhaimi clad in Grey Shirt

This is an open wind tunnel courtesy of NUS, S'pore.

A blower tunnel

The front left quarter of a persona

The model of the wind tunnel

Another

6 component balance

Well, this 6 component balance is placed right below the test section to collect data which is the 3 Forces and the 3 moments ie. Fx, Fy and Fz; Picthing moment, yawing moment and rolling moment ( Erm...I think I'm not wrong there).

Now, the test section:-
See this carefully and...you've got to come closer to the screen...

Test section with a Proton Waja prototype

Alright, see the movement of the wind??
(blown to the right side of the car)

See carefully, the white thing above the car...

One more clearer picture of it.

Right, if you noticed, the pictures above shows the movement of the wind and the white thing I was referring just then is the smoke produced by a smoke generator. Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to see the wind blowing and its flow on the car.

And finally, BET always conquer everything..hehe. Just kidding. Well, instead of an SIEM trip, or a mechanical students' trip, it all turns into civil and electrical students' trip. To clear some things up, though this wind tunnel has got more benefits to the mechanical students, it is related with electrical and civil engineering. For electrical, you usually do the data collection part because they need your expertise. Its all yours. For civil, you need this to do building tests and bridges and come up with a certain flexibility, though it still look rigid to us. =)

BET at the test section

BET posing at the entrance

By the way, to the mechanical students, we'll try to organize another trip for you guys. Its in our planning. So, fret not. You'll definitely get an opportunity to see it. I don't mind going twice and I came back feeling inspired - I have an opportunity to venture into something else.

Take 5 Tales

Just the other day, my friend showed us a t-shirt design. They suggested to print our own class tee, something for us to remember BET(E&E majoring in telecommunication section). Well, it has long been in plan and finally, there is a concrete design. Simple and nice. This upcoming tee reminds me of the U6Clancy t-shirt. Sadly, it wasn't printed because its expensive...The design is of course beautiful.hehe. Looks like some perfume ad and I'm still keeping it. =)
For him tee
Mixture of Crappy, Cheeky, Noisy & Quiet ones

The Innocent ones.Lol.

A highly prohibited place in KLCC..Naughty, naughty.

Ay, I really miss those days in MBS...If anyone says that form 6 is rubbish, giving remarks like wearing school uniform for another one an a half year??!! and STPM is so tough.. Well, I'd say, it was all worth it and of course all the good memories - precious.

Alright, enough for the nostalgic moments.. NOW GET BACK TO WORK!!! Having a test on National Day..Happy Independence Day everyone!! *cheeRs*
